The reason of law in italian literature

The law-suits «are not to be decided by natural reason, but by artificial reason andjudgment of law, which law is an act which requires long study and experience before that a man can attain to the cognisance of it [...] For reason is the life of the Law, nay the common Law it selfe is nothing else but reason which is to be understood of an artificiall perfection of reason, gotten by long study, observation, and experience, and not of every mans naturall reason, for Nemo nascitur artifex».
